Yolanda Onesios, 88, Scranton, a resident of the Jewish Home in Scranton, died Saturday. She was the wife of Albert Onesios, who died in 1999. They shared 52 years of marriage.
Born Yolanda Noto in Bronx, N.Y., daughter of the late Francesco and Gaetana Noto, she was the youngest of 13 children. After their retirement, Al and Yolanda enjoyed traveling both around the world and the United States. For a few years after her husband's death, Yolanda remained active with senior groups in New Jersey before moving to Pennsylvania to be closer to her daughter, Barbara.
She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She will be missed by all who were touched by her life. Yolanda's family extends a sincere thank-you to the staff of the Jewish Home and VNA Hospice who treated her with care and kindness.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Borek and husband, Andrew, Clarks Summit; and Gail Norman, Laurel, Mont.; a brother, Frank Noto; a sister, Lucy Zechosch; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Borek and wife, Rachel, Woodbridge, Va.; Andrea Borek Pederzani and husband, Todd, Jeffersonville, Pa.; Jesse Norman and wife, Jenny, Billings, Mont.; Erika Borek Wolfe and husband, Clinton, Louisville, Ky.; and Judd Norman and wife, Brandi, Billings, Mont.; five great-grandchildren, Thomas and Gracie Norman, Samuel Norman, and Dylan and Henry Borek; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown, N.J.
