Wilma Jean Jourdan Nesbitt, R.N., of Clarks Summit, died Monday at Geisinger Community Medical Center. Her husband of 57 years is Donald S. Nesbitt.
Born in Louisville, Ky., daughter of the late William and Esther Hartman Jourdan, she was a graduate of Bedford High School in Bedford, Ind., and went on to graduate from the Kentucky Baptist Nursing School in 1954. She was employed as a registered nurse for more than 22 years at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton and, before retiremen,t was employed by Mid-Valley Hospital, Peckville. She was a member of the Dalton United Methodist Church. Wilma was a very active volunteer with the American Red Cross and at Allied Services in Scranton. She was a former volunteer president of the American Baptist Churches and was also instrumental in bringing foreign exchange professionals to study at Marywood University.
Also surviving are a daughter, Amy Otto and husband, Thomas, Jermyn; two sons, John and wife, Mary, Reading; and William and wife, Diane, Factoryville; two sisters, Carolyn Jourdan, Indianapolis; and Elizabeth Machek, Evansville, Ind., eight grandchildren, Melissa Ransom, Jason Legg and Deierdra Farrell, all of Jermyn; Sarah White and husband, James, Mount Bethel; David Kamora and wife, Judey, Reading; Michelle Bixby, Alburn, N.Y.; Adam and Heather Bixby, Scranton; and nine beloved great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 23 at noon from the Dalton United Methodist Church, 125 S. Turnpike Road, Dalton, with services by Lori Robinson, pastor.
Interment will be private in Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
