William Thomas Smith III, 24, of Ransom Township, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning. He was the son of Laura Smith and the late William Smith, Jr.
He was a 2020 graduate of Abington Heights High School, where he won the only Men’s Warehouse Award. He was also a member of Our Lady of the Snows Church and was a former shipping manager at Fed Ex in Pittston. Will was a kind, funny, caring, compassionate, disciplined, strong, and amazing young man who marched to the beat of his own drum. He loved history, guns, UFC, gaming, cooking, music, laughter, woodworking, playing pool and chess, his dog Gumbo, his cats, and being with his family and friends, especially his best friend Sam.
Will was known for his crazy bird sounds, catch phrases, and could make you smile and laugh. He was a true angel on this earth. Although his time here was too short, he left a legacy of memories that will always be treasured. He was known as Will, Bill, Big Willy, Old Man Will, Little Bear, Angelo Bambino, and Ducky. On 9/11, when the US was under attack, a perfect angel was put into our lives. God blessed us with 24 years of his precious life.
He is survived by his mother, Laura Smith, of Ransom Township; his brother, John Smith and wife Kylee Colvin, of Factoryville; his sister, Julia Devereaux and her partner Moses Moe; nephew Neko Devereaux of Clarks Summit; his nephew and basically ‘little brother’, Jason Smith, of Ransom Township; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Will was reunited in death with his father, William Smith, Jr.; maternal grandparents Felix and Betty Zukowski; paternal grandparents William and Rosemary Smith; and Keith Parago, father figure and mentor; aunt, Sister Angela Miller; great grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 25th at Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 South State Street, Clarks Summit. Friends may pay their respects on Monday, August 24th from 5 pm to 7 pm at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 South State Street, Clarks Summit.
