William Samuel Spear, 66, of Ransom Twp., died Wednesday of injuries after a plane accident. His wife is the former Carolann Day. The couple would have celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary later this year.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Samuel and Catherine O'Malley Spear. He attended Holy Rosary High School and Johnson Technical Institute. Prior to his retirement, he held many positions. He was a insurance adjuster for Allstate Insurance Co.; he also worked for Pride Mobility and Keystone Electronics. He was a man of many talents. He was known as the neighborhood handyman, always willing to fix anything and help anyone. He loved fishing and thoroughly enjoyed the time spent sitting around with his friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Also surviving are three brothers, Gerald, Scranton; Ronald, Archbald; and Joseph, Jessup; and a sister, Sandy Spear, Scranton.

A funeral service and interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
