William Smith, 55, of Falls Twp., died Saturday morning at Community Medical Center.
Born in Jersey City, N.J., son of the late Henry W. and Jane Davis Smith, he was employed by Walmart in Tunkhannock and was previously employed at Banner Tire for 17 years. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Falls, where he was a member of the Bible study group and served as a lay minister and Sunday school teacher. He moved to Falls in 1985. He was a graduate of Clifton High School in 1975 and attended Lincoln Technical School. He was an avid reader, enjoying science fiction, as well as being a movie buff. He will be remembered by family and friends as a loyal and selfless soul, a spirit of pure beauty.
Surviving are two brothers, Roy, Boston; and Henry and wife, Jennifer, Stroudsburg; a sister, Janet and husband, David Pennella, Glenville, N.Y.; two nieces, Sarah Pennella and Jenna Smith; and three nephews, David and Anthony Pennella and Jonathan Smith.
The funeral will be Monday at 8 p.m. in the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. Eric Luczak, pastor of Bethel United Methodist Church. Friends may call Monday, from 5 until time of the service. A graveside service will be Tuesday at noon in the Greenwood Cemetery, Glendale.
