William (Bill) R. Bitterman, 74, Clarks Summit, died at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday morning. He is survived by his wife Susan Parry Bitterman.
Born in Scranton on July 26, 1946, he was the son of the late Jesse Bitterman and Mary Fawcett Bitterman Bower. Before his retirement, he was employed by Defense Support Services at the Tobyhanna Army Depot. He was also a self-employed contractor. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a member of the Abington Memorial Post VFW 7069. He was a graduate of the 1965 Class of Scranton Technical High School. Bill was enormously proud of his 30 plus years of sobriety.
Also surviving are his daughter Jill Brogan & husband Tom, Scranton, and son Harold Price, Clarks Summit; sister Judy Conway & husband Ed, Florida; 3 grandchildren: Courtney Price, Keira & Tom Brogan; several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Carli Bitterman Dennis and his sister Nancy Pelicci.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit. Interment with military honors will follow at Abington Hills Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.. He will be honored with a VFW service at 6 p.m.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Domestic Violence Services of Luzerne County.
