Born in St. Petersburg, Pinellas Park, FL, he was the son of the late William Isaac, Sr. and Christine Ann MacInnis Pyne. He is survived by his red-headed sweetheart, the former Betty Jo Ray of Marianna, FL, who he married in September, 1951.

William attended St. Petersburg Junior College and served proudly as a member of the Florida National Guard prior to marriage. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Chicago College of Optometry and spent most of his professional years employed in educational sales.
