William "Bill" George Lindberg, 88, formerly of North Abington Township, died Saturday in Regional Hospital. His wife Ruth Ann (Newton) Lindberg, preceded him in death in 2016. The couple married on August 28, 1954.
Born March 23, 1933, in Bergenfield, NJ, he was the son of the late Sigurd W. Lindberg and Edith Anna Lisa (Johansson) Lindberg. He graduated from Bergenfield High School and served in the United States Air Force as a Mechanic.
Bill and his family moved to North Abington Twp in 1970 when he started working for newly constructed Sandvik Steel in 1970. Bill was a member of Vasa Order of America in Budd Lake, N.J., Barbershop Scranton Chapter, Sons of the Union Veterans, VFW Post 7069, Masons Waverly Lodge #301, Shriners International, Dalton Fire Company, and Countryside Community Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Catherine Tripp and husband, Walter, West Abington Twp.; their children, Brent, Dalton and Kyle and wife Alejandra, Chicago, IL.; and daughter, Wendy Oslica; and her children, Jesse and Sumer Tarr; and great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Edith Baumgart, and granddaughter, Brandy Croiser.
A memorial service will be held at Countryside Community Church on Thursday, March 3 rd at 11 a.m., with services by Rev. James Hollister. Per the family's wishes, masks will be required. Military honors and interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Elmhurst, privately and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in remembrance of Bill Lindberg to Countryside Community Church, 14011 Orchard Drive, Clarks Summit, PA 18411, and the Dalton Fire Company, PO Box 684, Dalton, PA 18414.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Service Inc., 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit.
