William T. Laird, 66, of Dalton, died Saturday afternoon at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. He was the husband of the former Bonnie Carter. The couple had been married for 40 years.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Bruce and Marion Brennan Laird, he was a graduate of Holy Rosary High School in Scranton and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science from the University of Scranton and his Master of Business Administration from Marywood University. Bill proudly served his country for four years in the Air Force. He then continued to serve his country as a Department of Defense civilian employee for more than 30 years. He eventually retired from Tobyhanna Army Depot.

Bill was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5642. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

The family would like to thank all of Bill's friends for the wonderful support and help that they provided to them during his illness.

Also surviving are two sons, Brian and his wife, Karen, New Cumberland; and Scott and his wife, Michelle, Mechanicsburg; and four grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kaylee, Josh and Jace.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Laird.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Service Inc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. A memorial service will be held immediately following at 6:30. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen, 500 Penn Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.
