William A. LaCoe III, 76, of Nicholson Township, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2018, at Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, after a brave, hard-fought battle with heart disease.
Bill was born on Dec. 20, 1941, in Scranton to the late William and Esther (Sherman) LaCoe. He was a 1959 graduate of Newton-Ransom High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1960-62 in Schweinfurt, Germany.
One of the first employees to be hired in 1966 by Procter & Gamble in Mehoopany, he worked for the company for 30 years. He served in management positions in Operations, Maintenance, Logistics and Human Resources. Larger than life, Bill was an institution at P&G Mehoopany, mentoring and coaching many employees.
Bill and his wife, Sandra (Smith) were married for 51 years. They raised prize-winning Polled Hereford cattle and enjoyed fishing, trap shooting, sporting clays, and their many dogs including Gator, Susie and Sophie. Active in local Republican politics, Bill served as a Nicholson Township Auditor.
Of strong faith, Bill was a member of Tunkhannock Baptist Church and attended Waverly Community Church and Community Bible Church, Falls.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his daughter, Jean Lynott, and her husband, Jerome; son, Scott, and his wife, Stephanie; grandchildren, Sarah Lynott and Hannah and William LaCoe; sister, Charyl Pascoe; brother-in-law, Gary Smith, and his wife, Dale; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Frederick Pascoe, and mother- and father-in-law Otis and Emma Jean Smith.
A devoted and loving son, son-in-law, husband, father, "Pop Pop," brother and friend, Bill will be missed by many.
The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by Pastor David Stuckey.
Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Interment will be in Clarks Green Cemetery, Clarks Green Pennsylvania
