William E. Harper, 67, of Clarks Summit, died Thursday evening at home.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Robert E. and Elizabeth "Ibby" Shields Harper, he was a 1967 graduate of Abington Heights High School. He was a proud Navy veteran, serving in Vietnam as an aircraft mechanic. Bill worked for Dapsis Plumbing as a plumber and electrician alongside his best friend, Charlie "Butch" Dapsis.

Bill was known to his friends and family as an avid reader, history buff and music fan. One of his favorite genres to listen to was southern blues.

Surviving are a son, Roderick Harper and his companion, Alicen Backus, Taylor; a dear friend and cousin, Ben Harper and wife, Olga, Clarks Summit; and several other cousins.

He was also preceded in death by his former wife, Rebecca Phillips.

A graveside service will be held at Abington Hills Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
