William "Bill" Eckhart, Hop Bottom, formerly of Clarks Summit, died on December 15, 2021, at HealthPark Medical Center in Florida, from complications of Covid-19. He was the widow of JoAnn Barber Eckhart, who died in September. They were married for 53 years.
Born on August 12, 1944, in Forty Fort, he was the son of the late Clarence
"Pete" and Helen Edwards Eckhart. Prior to retirement, he was the Sales and
Finance Manager at Sun Auto Group, Clarks Summit, then later worked for
Lowes. He was active with the Waverly Masonic Lodge #301. He loved to hunt,
target and skeet shoot, and attend his grandsons' activities, whom he was very
proud of. He and JoAnn were full time RVers, with seasonal sites at Shore
Forest Campground in Hop Bottom and Whisper Creek RV Resort in Florida. He
loved his camp families, and could often be found chipping in on projects at the campgrounds, where he always seemed to have just the right tool. He will be missed by so many.
Surviving are two daughters, Paula Harris, Clarks Summit, and Tammy Jo Burke and her husband Bill, Dunmore; two grandchildren, Patrick and Ryan Burke; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Eckhart, Nanticoke; Catherine (Bill) Stritzinger, Dallas; and Jackie (Matt) Kobusky, Hanover Township; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Paul David Eckhart; a brother, Arthur
Eckhart; and a nephew, Glen Eckhart.
A memorial service, with Masonic Services, will be held on January 22 at 11:30 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. William Stritzinger. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
There will also be a memorial service at Whisper Creek RV Resort, LaBelle, FL,
on January 8 at noon, with services by Pastor Jon Kuiper.
Interment will take place at a later date at Hanover Green Cemetery for both Bill
and JoAnn.
