William L. Dixon, 85, of Clarks Summit, died Wednesday morning at home. His wife, the former Reine C. Williams, died in 1998. The couple was married for 51 years.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Ralph and Anna Brezwitz Dixon, he was an auditor with American Cigar for 38 years before retirement. He was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and the Wharton School of Business, graduating in 1949. He was a member of the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church and its couples class. He was an active member of the Rotary Club of the Abingtons, where he was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award.
He was a very thoughtful, intelligent, faithful and generous man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Up until his last days, he was active with the love of his farm, traveling, hunting, golf and family.
Surviving are a daughter, Lynn Oberg, East Windsor, N.J.; a son, Bruce R., Clarks Summit; a brother, Kenneth, Florida; a sister, Mary Lou Talerico, Scranton; five grandchildren, Wendy Bibeau, William A. Dixon, Marissa O'Donnell and Amanda and Kristin Oberg; and five great-grandchildren, Jacob Bibeau, Kyla and Nathan Dixon, Ainsley and Molly O'Donnell.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert; a brother, Ralph Dixon; five sisters, Eleanor Fitch, Dorothy Klatt, Ruth Berkel, Elizabeth VanWinkel and Nancy Dixon.
The funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, Morgan Highway and Grove Street, by the Rev. Judy Wanck, pastor. Interment will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly.
Friends may call Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
