William C. "Bud" Brown, 71, Ransom Twp., died Sunday morning at Regional Hospital of Scranton. His wife, and high school sweetheart, is the former Beverly LaCoe, the couple had been married for 47 years.
Born in Old Forge, he was the son of the late William G. and Leona Neipert Brown. He was a 1963 graduate of Newton Ransom High School. Bud was a proud Vietnam veteran, receiving a purple heart while serving in the 101st Airborne Division, the "Screamin Eagles". He was a member of the Abington VFW Post #7069 and the Disabled American Veterans, and was currently serving as a Supervisor in Ransom Twp. Prior to his retirement he was a contractor in business with his brother operating as Brown Builders for 30 years. He was a member of Countryside Community Church and was instrumental in the consolidation and construction of the new church.
Bud was always kidding around, and quick to get a smile from everyone he met. He believed in doing things the right way in his professional and personal life. His life centered around his family, his church and his community. His grandchildren and their accomplishments were his main focus and doing things for his children always came first. He and Bev enjoyed their recent winter vacation in Florida, traveling to see their grandsons in Ohio, and weekend card games with good friends. Bud was an avid hunter and was proud of the restoration he had done on his antique trucks. He also enjoyed his garden, harvesting a variety vegetables.
Also surviving are a son Jerry Brown and his wife Amy, Ransom Twp.; a daughter, Kristen and her husband, Jimmy, North Olmsted, Ohio; a brother, James Brown and his wife Diana, Newton Twp.; a brother in law and sister in law, Ivan "Pete" and Sandra LaCoe; six grandchildren, Jacob, Paige, and Shane Brown, Reagan Gilman, and Mason and Logan Fedor.; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son Shane, and two sisters, Rosella Brown and Sandra Nocera.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 am from the Countryside Community Church, 14011 Orchard Dr., Clarks Summit with services by the Rev. Mark Terwilliger, pastor. Interment with military honors will follow in Milwaukee Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Countryside Community Church.
