William J. Battaglia, Clarks Summit, died Wednesday at Geisinger Community Medical Center. His wife is the former Mary Spinelli, the couple had been married for 59 years.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late James and Elizabeth Dietrich Battaglia. He was a graduate of West Scranton High School, and attended the University of Scranton. Prior to retirement he was employed as a Technician-Engineer at WDAU, Channel 22 TV. He was a veteran proudly serving his country during WWII.

Also surviving are two sons, Roy and wife Nancy, Dalton and Alan and wife Cheryl, N. Abington Twp.; a sister, Ruth Familetti, Wisconsin; and a grandson, Gregory Battaglia.

Preceding him in death was a sister Elizabeth Briscese.

A private funeral service will be held on Monday 11 AM at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will follow at Abington Hills Cemetery.
