Wilhelmina "Billie" Spangenberg

Wilhelmina "Billie" Spangenberg, 87, of S. Abington Twp., died Sunday morning at Allied Skilled Nursing Center in Scranton. She was the wife of the late Kenneth F. Spangenberg Sr., who died in 2016.

Born in Scranton, she was a graduate of Central High School and received her associate's degree from Lackawanna College. Prior to her retirement she was employed for many years as an office clerk for Metropolitan Life. She was a member of the Chinchilla United Methodist Church, Chinchilla Pa.

Wilhelmina or "Billie", as she was known as by her friends, was active in her church including Gideon's Auxiliary.   She enjoyed playing the piano for the children's choir for many years.

Surviving is a son Kenneth F. Spangenberg Jr. and his wife Lynne, S. Abington; two daughters Lee LaQuintano and her husband Paul, Scranton; and Beth Allen and her husband Robert, Bluemont Va.; six grandchildren, two step grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and two nieces.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11am from the Chinchilla United Methodist Church, 411 Layton Rd. S. Abington Twp. 18411, with services by Rev. Don Gilchrist, Pastor. Interment will be held in Abington Hills Cemetery, S. Abington twp.

Friends may call 10am until time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2595 Interstate Dr. Harrisburg Pa. 17110 or the Chinchilla United Methodist Church at the above address.
