Walter Kuzara, resident of Nicholson, died early Tuesday morning at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore, at the age of 87. His wife is the former Geneva Helfrich.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Walter and Susanne Ferkol Kuzara. He attended high school in West Scranton prior to joining the United States Navy at an early age. Walter proudly served on the USS Kenneth D Bailey from 1946-49 during the end of World War II and the beginning of the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge he became a Carpenter in Local Union 261 where he worked his entire life and retired as a 50 year member. He also served on the VFW Post #7069 House Committee. Walter loved living on Lake Sheridan and working on projects for his family. He was a member of St Patrick's Catholic Church in Nicholson.
Also surviving are his brother, Paul Kuzara and wife Ann, Old Forge; step-daughters Angela Wesnesky and husband John, Clarks Summit; Elke Myers and husband Douglas, Nicholson; grandchildren John Wesnesky and wife Marissa, Clarks Summit; Shea and Maxwell Myers, Nicholson and great-grandson J.J. Wesnesky.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 7 pm from St. Patrick's Church, 100 Main St. Nicholson. Interment will be held Monday, August 15 at 11:30 in Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clarks Summit.
