Virginia M. Sampson, 92, formerly of Clarks Summit, passed away Monday in
Princeton, NJ. She and her husband, the late Selmer B. Sampson, had celebrated
their 66th wedding anniversary in 2007.
Born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Harold and Blanche Cyphers Branning,
she was
a resident of Clarks Summit for 60 years before moving to New Jersey in 2006.
She had worked as a typist for ICS. She was also a member of the Clarks Summit
United Methodist Church, as well as it's
Couples Class and Esther Circle.
Surviving are two sisters: Helen Campbell, Clarks Summit and Shirley Rolles,
Mechanicsburg, PA; two daughters: Carol Nebesney, Belle Mead, NJ and Linda
Armbrust, Clarks Summit; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces
and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Richard Armbrust.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 7 pm from the Lawrence E. Young
Funeral Home, with services by Rev. Judy Wanck, pastor, Clarks Summit United
Methodist Church. Interment will be in Abington Hills Cemetery on Saturday with
graveside services at 10 am. Those attending are asked to go directly to the
cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday 5 pm until the time of the service at the Lawrence E.
Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
