Vera J. Finch, 81, a resident of the Carbondale Nursing Home and formerly of Newton Twp., died Friday at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. Her husband of 52 years, Carl R. Finch, died Sept. 14, 2002.
Born April 4, 1929, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late George and Myrtle Williams Jacoby. Vera was a member of the Mill City Assembly of God Church. She had a deep faith in Jesus Christ and is now with her loving husband, Carl.
Surviving are a daughter, Susan Gagas and husband, the Rev. William Gagas, Carbondale; a son, Harlan Finch and wife, Jean Finch, Newton Twp.; two sisters, Ruth Hayden, Newton Twp.; and Clesta Trivelpiece, Clarks Summit; six grandchildren, Jennifer Harrison, Hillary Finch, Vanessa Sabo, Jonathan Gagas, Bethenny Gagas, and Jeremy Gagas; and three great-grandchildren, Brian and Dylan Harrison and Karina Sabo.
She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Maurice Black, and a stepsister, Emiline Yeisley.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. from Mill City Assembly of God Church, with services by the Rev. James Rugg, pastor. Interment will be in Newton Cemetery.
