Thomas Anderson Veety, 89, of Newton Twp., died Wednesday morning at the United Methodist Home at Wesley Village in Jenkins Twp. He was the husband of Fern Alice Huggler Veety, who died in 2010.
Born in Newton, son of the late William and Pearl Decker Veety, Tom was a self-employed farmer as well as school bus owner and operator for Abington Height School District for 27 years. He served as the Newton Twp. supervisor for 12 years. He was a member of the Waverly Masonic Lodge, F&AM 301 and the Bethel United Methodist Church in Falls.Tom enjoyed hunting and being outdoors, but his main passion in life was spending time with his family. His wonderful smile and great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are a son, Charles and his wife, Lois, Falls; a daughter Dianne Wheaton and her husband, Robert, Clarks Summit; three grandchildren, Edward Veety and his wife, Katie, Factoryville; Barbra Veety, Trexlertown; and Marie Domenech and her husband, Edgar, Mansfield; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Sophia Domenech.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Veety; and a sister, Marion Woods.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Bethel United Methodist Church, Falls Road, Newton. Interment will follow in Abington Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
