Thomas W. Sheppard

Thomas W. Sheppard, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on June 15, 2021, at Allied Hospice Center, Scranton.

Born in Scranton, PA November 17, 1943 he was the son of Thomas J. and Ethel Sheppard. A long-time resident of Dalton, he graduated from West Side High School in 1961 and attended the University of Scranton.  Tom enlisted in the US Army January 31, 1964, serving Honorably until January 30, 1967.  Tom was stationed in Fort Benning GA, Seoul Korea, and Aberdeen Proving Ground MD.  After returning home from the military, he worked in the banking business until retirement.  Tom then began a part-time position as a real estate agent at O'Boyle Real Estate, Clarks Summit. Tom was a 32nd Degree Mason, former Secretary for the Free Evangelical Bible Church, Council member for Dalton Borough, and was a member of the local VFW.

Tom is survived by his wife Peggy (Hughes), his son Doug Sheppard, daughter Lynda and husband Michael Hill, grandchildren Owen and Mason Yorty, and Madalyn Sheppard.  Also survived by a brother Robert and wife Mona Sheppard, sister Charlotte and husband Thomas Ruby, along with several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit on Saturday June 19 ^th beginning at 10 am. A memorial service will follow at 11, with services by Michael Measley, pastor of Evangelical Free Bible Church.  The family will proceed to a private burial upon completion of the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tom's name to the American Cancer Institute.
