Thomas Carleton Noyes, Sr., Clarks Summit Resident
aka "Tom Mark Em Down" Noyes

After nearly 7-years of triumphing multiple myeloma Tom left this earthly life at 5:45am on July 23rd, 2011 at the Northeast Pa Home Health & Hospice Care, Scranton, Pa. He was born to Edward Whittier Noyes, Sr. and Anita Helena Young Noyes on April 3rd, 1928 in Scranton. Cremated, inurned next to his mother, Anita, sister, Marjorie and grandmother, Isabelle in Shady Lane Cemetery, Chinchilla at a private burial per his wishes. There will be a Memorial Life Celebration on Saturday, September 10th, 2011 at 11am in the Evangelical Free Bible Church, 431 Carbondale Road, Clarks Summit, Pa ~ all are welcome!

Tom's life was colorful and varied, he marched to the beat of his own drummer and was a rolling stone, gathering no moss, one-of-a-kind character in his own right. During WWII while his father and older brother were off to the Pacific front he gallantly kept the home fires burning being too young to sign up himself. This is when he sold his first car at age 15 lying about his age! He graduated from Dunmore High School in 1947 although he was a member of the Class of '46, but was held back recovering from car accident injuries. He received a football scholarship to his beloved Penn State and another to the University of Florida. Through his twenties Tom produced Home Shows, backed prize fighters and became a successful car salesman - he could sell bikinis and ice to the Eskimos! Later on, he moved to south Florida hired by General Development Corp selling homes/lots and was a recognized award-winning salesman. Eventually he opened his own office, Noyes Realty Co in West Palm Beach and Port St. Lucie, FL where he was the lead broker, employing 10+ associate realtors. Two years running he garnered the coveted status as #1 Real Estate Agent of Palm Beach County. Retiring 20+years ago he then turned his talents and attention to world class poker earning a name in those circles of winners. It was a true vocation as he studied books and played in small satellites for practice before the larger, prominent tournaments. While recovering from various surgeries (due to the cancer) and in between chemo infusions he was the "energizer bunny" with his cane, walker, "scooter". Everyone knew Tom at these popular poker events!

Tom is survived by his children: Anita L.-OH, Linda B. (JD)-FL, Kathryn N. (Frank)-PA, Debbie K. (Bob)-TN, Marjorie W. (IN) and Thomas C., Jr.-FL.
Also survived by sister, Isabelle (Dede) N. Davis, Clarks Summit and brother, Dr. Willard L. Noyes (Sandy), Thompson. Tom was predeceased by his father, Edward W. Noyes, Sr. and his loving step-mother, L. Kathryn Decker Bush Noyes and his dear, older brother, Edward W. Noyes, Jr. (Sandy). He was blessed to enjoy 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren plus his special "grand-puppy", Sierra Nevada Noyes. He also loved all of his nieces and nephews, their spouses and offspring. He was first married to Shirley Ruth Harmon (deceased) and secondly, to Marilyn Davies Noyes, FL. His life long "buddy forever" and best friend is Joseph Faherty, Peckville.

During his life he was involved with many organizations too numerous to mention. However special recognition goes to his exalted Exhausted Roosters' (former Chamber of Commerce members) of Scranton and the Elks Club (life member).

Charitable contributions can be made to The American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, any animal shelter or hospice facility. The family sincerely thanks the staff at the Northeast Pa Home Health & Hospice, Scranton, Pa for their fine and loving care of Thomas. Gratitude also goes to the staff of the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, Clarks Summit, Pa for their sensitive, warm care in all of the arrangements.
