Thomas Jenkins of Scott Twp., formerly of Dalton, died Sunday at the VNA Hospice at Community Medical Center. He and his wife, the former Betty Jane Bell, were married for 63 years.

Born in Dickson City, he was the son of the late Thomas and Marjorie Smailes Jenkins. He was a World War II veteran, serving as a Navy corpsman, and had been employed by Western Electric Co. for 35 years before retirement. He was a member of Dalton United Methodist Church and its Challengers Club. He was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 156, Dalton, for 20 years and received the Forest Lake Council District Award of Merit. He was a lifelong member of the NRA.

Thomas' hobbies included hunting, fishing and woodworking.

The family would like to thank the staff at VNA Hospice at CMC for the wonderful care and attention Mr. Jenkins and the family received.

Also surviving are five sons, Thomas and wife, Terrijean, Pensacola, Fla.; Bruce and wife, Katherine, Dillsburg; William and wife, Jackie, Dalton; Mark and wife, Florence, Granger, Ind.; and David and wife, Mary, Rexford, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren, Thomas Jenkins and wife, Nicole; Seth Jenkins and wife, Jennifer; Lisa and husband, Ron Siesputowski; Pamala and husband, Eric Lewis; Katie and husband, Jeff Goldovich; and Donald, Mike, Colin, Mark, Karen, Amanda, Darby and Jacob Jenkins; eight great-grandchildren, Thomas, Arianna, Kylee, Zachery, Benjamin, Owen, Addison and Jillian; a brother, Marshall, Florida; and a sister, Marjorie Cuccura, Scranton.

He also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Erin Jenkins, and two brothers, Isaac and Robert.

The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home Inc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. Brian Lucas, pastor of Dalton United Methodist Church. Interment will be private at the family's convenience. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 until service time.
