Thomas W. Herman

Thomas W. Herman, 88, of Tunkhannock passed away Friday, August 7, 2026, surrounded by his family, at Third Avenue Healthcare Center, Kingston. He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie (Gruver) Herman.

Born on March 31, 1938, in Fort Wayne, IN, he is the son of the late Howard and Mary Jo Herman.

Thomas was a graduate of Tunkhannock High School. For many years, Thomas farmed his family's homestead, carrying on a way of life that was important to him. He later began a career with the United States Postal Service, where he worked as a mail carrier for 35 years before his retirement.

He was happiest outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and appreciated the peace and beauty of nature. He also enjoyed gardening and took pride tending to the plants he grew.

He is survived by his daughters, Peggy Funk (Michael), Polly Herman (Todd); daughter-in-law, Deborah Herman; dear friend, Joanne Clark; grandchildren, Daniel, Amanda, Marijo, Mark, Katie, Anthony, Austin; 12 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his sons, Randy and Ricky Herman; brothers, William and Robert Herman.

As per Thomas' wishes, there will be no funeral services.
