Thomas J. Corrigan Sr. of Clarks Summit died Thursday at Mercy Hospital Hospice in Scranton. He and his wife, the former Ethel Gall, have lived in Clarks Summit with their family since 1966. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 19.

Born May 9, 1927, in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of the late J. Frank Corrigan and Elizabeth Doody Corrigan. A graduate of Regis High School in New York, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in China with the First Division. After receiving an honorable discharge, he graduated from St. Peter's College in Jersey City, where he met his future wife. He began his professional career with the Irving Trust Co. of New York City. Throughout his life, he worked in the banking profession with various institutions, including Kingston National Bank, the Third National Bank of Scranton and the First National Bank of Carbondale. He retired as the president of Citizens National Bank of Greencastle. During his career, he served as chapter president and state director of the Bank Administration Institute. He was an adjunct professor at the University of Scranton, where he was a member of the Omicron Delta Epsilon Honor Society in economics. Beyond his professional life, he served as civil service commissioner for Clarks Summit and as judge of elections for Lackawanna County. He was active in the Boy Scouts and served as a committee member to Troop 160 in Clarks Summit.

Tom is also survived by his four children, Stephen and wife, Virginia, Winnipeg, Manitoba; Thomas Jr., St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands; Mary Beth and husband, John Hochheimer, Alexandria, Va.; and Christopher and wife, Corinne, San Francisco; six grandchildren, Catherine, Elizabeth, Stephanie, Ryan, William and Lucy Corrigan; two stepgrandchildren, Nicole and Andrew Hochheimer; several nieces and nephews; a sister, Sister Mary Corrigan; and four brothers, John, Eugene, James and Malachi. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. All attending are asked to go directly to church. Interment, Clarks Green Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
