Listen to Obituary

Thomas Balko, 55, of Falls passed away Sunday, February 25th, 2018. His wife is the former Laura Davis, the couple had been happily married for 30 years.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Michael and Margaret Bostedo Balko.  He was a 1980 graduate of Abington Heights High School and graduated from Johnson College with honors.  He was also a member of Our Lady of the Snows Church in Clarks Summit.  He was employed at Sterling Glass in Scranton as a Glazer Superintendent, and was a member of the Glazers Union, Local 252.

Everyone who had the joy of acquainting themselves with Tom, remembered him as hardworking, selfless, generous, and good-humored. Regardless of the hour or circumstance, he was always available to lend a helping hand. Tom enjoyed all sports, including football, baseball, basketball, and wrestling. He particularly enjoyed coaching his sons in baseball and basketball, while faithfully supporting them in all their life endeavors. He was an avid and talented hunter, as well as a very proud restorer of two corvettes. Undoubtedly more than anything, he loved spending time with his family and had a passion for laughing and playing with children.

Also surviving are his two sons, Thomas Balko, Meshoppen and Cory Balko, Falls; a brother Michael Balko; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:30 am from Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will follow in Clarks Green Cemetery.  All those attending are asked to go directly to the church.
