Theodore N. Tacij,of Dalton, Pa. died March 6, 2016 at Allied Skilled Nursing Facility in Scranton. His wife is the former Elaine M. Zucosky Tacij. The couple has been married for over 40 years.

Born in Scranton on January 3, 1926, he was the son of the late Dr. Nicholas M. and Paraska Kakakuka Tacij. Ted attended the former Central High School, Scranton, the University of Scranton, the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Fla., and Georgetown Law School, Washington, D.C. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Airforce on November 17, 1943, 6 months before his high school graduation. He was honorably discharged October 28, 1945.

Upon graduating from college, Ted worked as a member of a management training team in the stock brokerage of Chase National Bank, now J.P. Morgan, 35 Wall Street, New York, NY. He also worked as a price analyst in the special brand tire sales division of Uniroyal (U.S. Rubber Co.), Rockefeller Center, New York, NY. When he returned home to Scranton, Ted served as group chief of the Eastern Region of the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, Audit Bureau. After 35 years of service with the Commonwealth, he retired as Regional Audit Supervisor of the PA Department of Revenue, Scranton region. He was a member of the Church of St Gregory, Clarks Green.

Ted was a loving husband and will be missed by all who knew him.

Also surviving is a cousin, Paul Kranick, Sarasota, Fla. and his son Theodore Kranick, Greenbay, WI.

He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Mayme Pohowski Tacij and his uncle Lt. Col. Theodore Kalakuka.

A mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday at 10am from the church of St. Gregory's, 330 N. Abington Road. Interment will follow in St. Catherine's cemetery, Moscow, Pa. All those attending are asked to go directly to the church.

Family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-8pm at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St. Clarks Summit.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp., 18411.
