Susan M. Maher, 67, of Clarks Summit, died Friday morning at her home due to complications of pancreatic cancer. She was the wife of David M. Maher. The couple has been married for 47 years.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Lillian Collins Davis. She was a graduate of Abington Heights High School (Class of 1967) and attended Marywood University for two years. She was employed as a travel agent for Venture Travel in Scranton for several years and prior to her retirement she was employed by Joann Fabrics in Scranton for 10 years.
Susan loved to sing. She was a member of the Singers Guild of Scranton, Catholic Choral Society of Scranton, Choral Society of NEPA, and the Marywood Campus Choir. She was also very talented with her hands and enjoyed needlework, quilting, and cooking for her family. She was an avid traveler and especially enjoyed cruising. Two of her favorite places to explore were Rome and Santorini. She was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees. Susan also had a great love for animals, especially her cats.
Also surviving is a daughter Jennifer Galas and her husband Richard, Scott Twp.; a sister-in-law Patricia Davis, Beaverton, OR; a nephew Andrew C. Davis and his wife Stephanie, Indiana, PA; a niece Gwynne Pitts, Hillsboro, OR; and several grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas C. Davis.
A funeral service and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
