Sharon E. Barrett of Scranton, PA peacefully passed on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at St. Mary's Villa, Elmhurst.
Born in Gary, Indiana she was the third daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Ennis. As a young woman, Sharon moved to Chicago and worked as the personal/legal secretary for the Honorable George Leighton, District Appellate Judge. The professionalism, the acumen for anything legal, the strong work ethic and demeanor she developed as a young woman would carry her throughout her life.
You may have recognized her as a sales rep at Hess Dept. Store for the Lancome cosmetic line, as a customer service rep at PDQ, Scranton, as assistant secretary/treasurer for the borough of Clarks Green, and as Association President and Site Manager for Summit Pointe Condominiums, Scranton.
Sharon was memorable. Never a hair out of place. Dressed "to the nines". She was fun, a delight. No one enjoyed a practical joke more than Sharon. She had a great sense of humor and a quick wit.
Above all things, she loved being a mom to her son, Tommy. As he went through school, she volunteered as Classroom Mother. She stuffed herself as a snowman for the Winter Wonderland celebration at school, and she was Tom's biggest fan at his sports events.
She was very spiritual all through her life. She was a "standout" at her church, Our Lady of the Snows and St. Benedicts. You might recognize her for she was Lector every Saturday night at 5 o'clock mass. She worked at the church bazaar and tended the gardens around the church.
Sharon is survived by her brother-in-law, James Shields, one niece, and five nephews, and her little Yorkie Maxx Barrett. She leaves behind many friends. For to know Sharon is to admire and love her.
Preceding her in death was the love of her life, her son Tom Barrett, her twin sisters Eileen Shields and Maureen Kepshire (and husband Robert) and sister Kathleen Walters.
The family thanks the staff at Allied Hospice and St. Mary's Villa for their compassionate care.
Honoring Sharon's wishes, the memorial service will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, say a prayer for Sharon. Keep her memory alive.
Donations in Sharon's name will be accepted at Our Lady of the Snows, 301 S. State Street, Clarks Summit, PA 18411, or St. Cats and Dogs, 1900 E Gibson St, Scranton, PA 18510.
