Scott E. Hughes, 62, of Exeter, formerly of Dalton, died Monday evening at Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse in Philadelphia.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Walter E. and Lydia Wescott Hughes, he was a 1966 graduate of Lackawanna Trail High School, where he participated on the football and track teams. Before retirement in 2008 as a systems analyst, he held various technical positions for more than 36 years at MetLife in Clarks Summit. As a long-time resident of the Dalton area, he was a member of the Dalton Baptist Church.
Scott was a gifted musician who had a profound love for music. His outlandish personality amused his co-workers. Scotty was one of a kind.
Surviving are a daughter Tracy H. Stahl and husband, Scott, Clarks Summit; two sisters, Donna Wohkittel and husband, Bill, Tunkhannock; and Peg Sheppard and husband, Tom, Dalton; a niece; three nephews; numerous friends.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services to be officiated by the Rev. Dr. J.P. Duncan, pastor of the Countryside Community Church, Newton Twp. Interment will be private in Fairlawn Cemetery, Dalton.
