Sarah Lynn Phillips, 63, of Clarks Green, passed away on Saturday at her daughter's home in Lancaster, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Barry C. Phillips, who died in 2015. The couple had been married 36 years.
Born in Buffalo, NY, Sarah was the daughter of David Ewert and the late Lillian Holtz Ewert. Sarah attended Tennessee Temple University, where she graduated with a B.S. in Religious Education, as well as met her husband. A resident of Clarks Green for 35 years, Sarah was involved in various women's ministries, was a mentor and friend to many, and most recently worked as the Office Administrator for her church. She published hundreds of articles over the years on her blog and elsewhere. Her book, Penned Without Ink , was published in 2016 with a companion Leader's Guide released in 2018.
Some of Sarah's favorite things were God's precious Word, conversation around ideas, writing, early morning walks, sharing tea with friends, and time with her family. She was especially good at organizing and decluttering. Those who knew Sarah knew how much she loved a good story. The most significant part of Sarah's was her decision to follow Jesus as a child. Her faith in God to "complete His good work" through the process of her life sustained her.
Sarah is survived by her three daughters and four grandchildren: Jana Phillips and son, Tiberius (Ty) Ludwig of Marietta, Sharon Morris, her husband, Brad, and their children, William, Victor, and Teresa, of Lancaster, and Elisabeth Phillips of Akron, OH; by her sister, Barbara Settle, who lives with her husband, Brad, in Warsaw, IN; and by her father, David Ewert of Scranton.
