Santo Michael Gabriel, Sr.

Clarks Summit loses another son. Lifelong resident of Clarks Summit, Santo Michael Gabriel, Sr., 86, died peacefully at his Waverly Township home on December 15th.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Carmen and Filomena Garofalo Gabriel. Prior to retirement, he was self-employed in the beverage distribution industry, serving NE Pennsylvania for over 30 years

Surviving are two sons, Mark A. Gabriel and Garett CM Gabriel; two sisters, Josephine Jordan and Carmella Carter; three grandchildren: Garett Santo Gabriel, Angelica Gabriel and Marco Gabriel; and four great grandchildren: Claire Gabriel, Oliver Snyder, Dane Gabriel and Sullivan Snyder.

He was preceded in death by his son, Santo M. "Sammy" Gabriel, Jr., who died on October 28, 2021, and his wife the late Annette (Rutkauskas) Gabriel, who passed in 2003.

Sam had a great love of the outdoors which he passed on to his three sons. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and flying. He was a lifelong member of VFW Post 7069 and donated regularly to St Jude's Children's Hospital.

In later years, Sam enjoyed visiting friends at the local Clarks Summit diners and was sure to pick up his paper every morning from Gerrity's Market where he would enjoy visiting with friends.

Services for friends and family to say farewell will be held on Saturday, January 8 ^th from 3 to 5 p.m at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Sam will be dearly missed and Clarks Summit won't be the same without him
