Sally Miller Brown Sullivan, North Abington Twp., died Saturday evening at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of James R. Sullivan Sr., who died in 2011.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Herman and Dorothy Miller Brown, she graduated from Scranton Central High School and Susquehanna University, where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. Upon graduation, Sally worked for the International Salt Company in Clarks Summit and later, after the birth of her first child, became a stay at home mom.
While raising her eight children, she became active in the Waverly Women's Club and was an avid seamstress, quilter, crafter and gardener. She loved her New York Yankees and Penn State football. In her later years, she enjoyed Fox News, jigsaw puzzles, word search puzzles and coloring but, most of all, spending time with her 11 grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sons, James Jr. and wife, Susan, Lake Ariel; Richard, Waverly; and Edward, at home; five daughters, Diane and her partner, Nadine Morgan, Binghamton, N.Y.; Joanne Brust and husband, Rick, Scranton; Linda Behrens and husband, Chad, Throop; Lisa Vaughn and husband, Matt, Scranton; and Amy Cannella and husband, Charles, Falls; a brother-in-law, Richard Mull; 11 grandchildren, Deborah, Nicholas, Sarah, Matthew, Benjamin, Brenden, Ethan, Shaun, Maria, Seth and Caleb; nieces and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Judith Mull; and a daughter-in-law, Colleen Sullivan.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, by the Rev. Timothy Schwartz. Interment will follow in Abington Hills Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
