Ruth Elizabeth Pasternak, 92, of Falls, died Thursday evening at the VNA Hospice unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. She was the wife of Leonard Pasternak, who died in 1967.
Born in Ransom, daughter of the late Walter and Sophie Richter Huggler, she was a graduate of Newton Ransom High School. Ruth devoted her life to caring for her beloved family. She was a member of the Countryside Community Church.
Ruth was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan whose favorite player was Mike Schmidt. She was active and involved in many activities including bowling, square dancing, and excelled in basketball in high school. Ruth was known for her vibrant personality and beautiful smile. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are two sons, Leon Pasternak, Falls; and Greg Pasternak, Jefferson Twp.; two daughters, Elaine McNulty, Mill City; and Sharon Grieshaber, Falls; three sisters, Lorraine Fayocavitz, Ransom; Joan Degilio and husband, Nicholas, Ransom; and Carol Bartholme and husband, Neil, Newton; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Huggler, Ransom; six grandchildren, Tara, Ryan, Matthew McNulty, Kurt and Kevin Kresge, and Josh Grieshaber; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Robert and Albert Huggler; and a sister, Doris Winters.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the Countryside Community Church, 14011 Orchard Drive, Clarks Summit, by the Rev. Mark Terwilliger, pastor. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10 until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Countryside Community Church or Stand up to Cancer (SU2C), PO box 843721, Las Angeles, CA 90084-3721.
