Ruth O'Neil

Ruth O'Neil, 95, of Scranton, died peacefully Saturday morning at Lackawanna Health and Rehab Center, Peckville.  She was the wife of the late James O'Neil, who died in 1976.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Carl A. and Nellie Baux (Baksis) Zvalauskas. Ruth worked as a homemaker and was a member of St. Paul's Church, Scranton.

Surviving are eleven children: Carol O'Neil, Scranton; Kathy Palmer and husband Dale, Scranton; Dan O'Neil and wife Mary, Moscow; Jim O'Neil and wife Maureen, Florida; Peggy Aldine and husband Jim, New York; Carl O'Neil and wife Karen, Scranton; Ruthie Serine and husband Pete, LaPlume; Barry O'Neil and wife Suzan, Clarks Summit; Ellen Yeakel, Dunmore; Chris O'Neil, Scranton; Michael O'Neil, Clarks Summit; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and three nieces and two nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred Regeski, and brother Albert Zvalauskas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 17 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Parish, 1510 Penn Avenue, Scranton, by Msgr. Neil J. Van Loon, pastor.  Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment to follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.

The family would like to thank the staff of Lackawanna Health and Rehab Center for the compassionate care that was shown not only to Ruth, but also to her family.
