Ruth E. Brown, 90, of Clarks Summit and formerly of Monterey, Calif., and Blairstown, N.J., died Monday in the Green Ridge Healthcare Center after a brief illness. She was the widow of Frank F. Brown.

Born April 13, 1918, in Newark, N.J., daughter of the late George and Mable Noll, she was educated in Southside High School, Newark. She loved swimming, track and especially playing pool. Ruth was quite the character, with a great sense of humor and a love for her friends at New Seasons as well as its daily happy hour. Her favorite song was "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole, and she will always be unforgettable to everyone in her family.

Although she grew weary over the past few months, she always kept her sense of humor and will always be remembered as a strong and loving mother of 10, grandmother of 17 and great-grandmother of 17.

Ruth's family would like to thank her caregivers at New Seasons and the Green Ridge Healthcare Center for the wonderful care she received.

Surviving are eight children, Nancy Psyhojos and husband, Triffen, MacCungie, Pa.; Fred Brown and companion, Sandy, Seaside, Calif.; James Brown and wife, Lin da, Pocono Pines; Judy Rydell and husband, Gary, High Point, N.C.; John Brown, San Antonio, Texas; Patricia Brown and companion, Russ, Walpack, N.J.; Sherry Wall and husband, Greg, Clarks Summit; and Linda Girazian, Scranton; and a daughter-in-law, Noel Brown.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, William Noll; a daughter, Vicki Brown; a son, Thomas Brown; grandson, Thomas Brown Jr.; and two sons-in-law, Mel Girazian and Dr. Ted Torok.

In respect of Ruth's wishes, private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House,332 Wheeler Ave., Sranton,Pa. 18510, in remembrance of her daughter Vicki.
