Rufus S. Nichols, Scott Twp., died Sunday afternoon at the Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. His wife is the former Jacalin J. Sutton, the couple celebrated their 54th anniversary on July, 30, 2014.

Born in Scranton he was the son of the late Rufus and Mildred Stanton Nichols.

He was a lifelong resident of Scott Twp., where he owned and operated his own bus company for thirty years as well as working for William W. Scranton and family for approximately 40 years. Rufus was the caretaker of Miller Cemetery in Scott Twp., and involved with the Boy Scout Troop, Pack 265 for over sixteen years

Rufus worked hard his whole life, had many friends and spent each morning at the Sunrise Café in Clarks Summit for breakfast. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Also surviving are three sons Rusty J. and wife Gianine, Lenoxville, Eric S. and wife Janette, Norman OK and Rufus B. and wife Joyce, Scott Twp.; six grandchildren.

The funeral will be on Friday at 10am from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit with services by the Rev. Amy Raser. Interment will follow in Miller Cemetery.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 pm at the funeral home.
