Rose Aikman, 93, of Dalton, died peacefully in the loving embrace of her family, Saturday morning at The Pines at Clarks Summit Senior Living. She was the widow of the late Charles D. Aikman who died in 1994. The couple had been married for 50 years at the time of his death.

Born in Galloway, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Mary Ferrarelli Manfreda. She was a member of Our Lady of the Abingtons Church.

Rose enjoyed cooking and baking, especially for her family and friends, and will be remembered for her buckeyes especially at Christmastime. Her passion in life was golf, and at the age of 79, she had a hole in one at the Lakeland Golf Course.

Surviving are two daughters, Rose Ann Hanlon, and her husband Gerard, Morristown, NJ, and Peg Aikman, Cape Elizabeth, ME; three sons, John David Aikman and his companion, Ann Bloom of Middletown, NY, Robert Aikman, Dalton, and Timothy Aikman, Clarks Summit; a brother, Joseph Manfreda of Fremont, CA; three sisters, Stella Byrnes, Panama City, FL, Helene Gallo, Akron, OH, and Mary Bongiovanni, East Brunswick, NJ; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

The family would like to thank Traditional Home Health & Hospice and the staff at The Pines at Clarks Summit for their wonderful and compassionate care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10 am at Our Lady of the Abingtons Church, 700 West Main St., Dalton. All those attending are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly.

Friends may call on Friday evening from 4 to 7 pm at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
