Romayne M. Koerner of Newton Twp. died Tuesday evening in the VNA hospice unit of Geisinger Community Medical Center. She was the widow of George H. Koerner who died on Dec. 10, 2011. The couple married on January 26, 1952.
Born in Taylor, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Emma Shultz Hydeck. She was a graduate of Taylor High School and a member of the Countryside Community Church, Order of the Eastern Star Juanita Chapter and the Newton Ransom Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary. Prior to retirement Romayne worked as a dietary aide for the Clarks Summit State Hospital and the Scranton Chamber of Commerce.
Romayne enjoyed traveling with her husband and especially spending winter months in Zephyrhills in Florida. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are a daughter, Pamela J. Wood and her husband Roger of Roaring Brook, a son, Gary H. Koerner and his wife Diane of Monclova, OH, 4 grandchildren, Heather Cucculelli and her husband Joseph, Fl, Joshua Koerner, La, Devin and Kyle Wood, Roaring Brook; a great grandson, Roman Cucculelli, Fl; a sister, Irene Slagan, Newton Twp., a brother, Stephen Hydeck Jr. of Pocono Summit and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Emily Ponas and two brothers, Michael and Joseph Hydeck.
The funeral will be on Friday at 11am. In the Countryside Community Church, 14011 Orchard Dr. Clarks Summit with internment to follow in the Newton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Rd. South Abington Twp, Pa. 18411 or the donors favorite charity.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 418 S. State St. Clarks Summit.
