Romanye Elizabeth Veety

Romanye Elizabeth Veety, 97, of Falls, died Wednesday morning at Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock. She was the wife of Carl Veety, who died in July 1996.

Born in Brinktown, daughter of the late Morris and Mildred Sivis Swartwood, she was a member of the Tyler Hospital Ladies Auxillary for more than 20 years and a member of Falls United Methodist Church.

Romayne was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed socializing and spending time with her friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are two daughters, Ruth Hammond and husband, Joseph, Scott Twp.; and Marlene Rice and husband, Ron, Morrison, Colo.; a son, Duane and wife, Judy, Montrose; seven grandchildren, Ronald Rice Jr., Brian Rice and wife, Renee, both of Colorado; Sean Veety, Yvonne Veety, Christopher Veety, Ryan Hammond and Ken Dukerich; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beulah Klipple and Janet Trauger; and a brother, Kempton Swartwood.

She was also preceded in death by a son, James; two sisters, Regina Stevens and Esther Jones; and two brothers, Maxwell and Morris "Wendell" Swartwood.

Funeral and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
