Roger Leroy Taylor, 86, of Clarks Summit, died Saturday at the VNA Hospice Unit in Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton after a sudden illness with his wife and daughter by his side. He was the husband of Barbara Anderson Taylor. The couple has been married for 61 years.
Born in Clarks Summit, he was the son of the late Roy and Mary Lesh Taylor. He attended Clarks Summit High School and then served his country as a radio mechanic in the United States Air force during the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a supervisor at Herff Jones printing for 41 years.
Roger was a devoted airman, husband, father, and grandpa. He was an avid reader and enjoyed playing and watching golf.
Also surviving is a son Bruce Taylor and his wife Darlene, a daughter Christina Cannon and her husband Matthew, and his five grandchildren Charles, Melissa, Nicholas, Jason and Mark.
He was preceded in death by a brother Brian Taylor and his grandson Vincent Taylor.
A memorial service with military honors will be held Friday at 7pm from the Lawrence E Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St. Clarks Summit Pa. 18411. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call Friday from 5pm until 7pm and are welcome to attend service.
