Roger Dayton Hickox, 86, of East Benton, died Tuesday morning in the Hospice of the Sacred Heart where he had been a brief resident after being cared for by family at home. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Geisshardt. The couple would have been married 65 years on February 17.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Violet Franklin Hickox. He attended Benton school and was a lifelong member of the East Benton United Methodist Church. He was a dairy and chicken farmer, with over 2000 chickens. He brought smiles to the faces of his customers as he delivered milk and eggs on his weekly route. He and his wife were also the owner/operators of the East Benton Dairy Bar, where he was a prominent figure on his corner bar stool running PR, and known as the "mayor" of East Benton. He was also a member of the East Benton Cemetery Association, in which he was very active. After retiring, he enjoyed working in his wood shop. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great grandfather and loved spending time with his family.

The family would like to thank all their good friends and employees for their assistance and kindness during Roger's illness.

Also surviving are a son, Rick Hickox and his wife, Gloria; three daughters, Rolene Van Duzer and her husband Jeff, Bonnie Hunt and her husband Jim, and Beth Weidow, all of East Benton; grandchildren, Keith Hickox, Kelley Shull, Jamie Nowakowski, Leslie Green, Brian and Jake Weidow, Josh and Molly Van Duzer; and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Robert Hickox, and a son in law, Carl Weidow.
