Listen to Obituary
Roger Ray Chapman, 61, of Clarks Summit, died Thursday at the Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. He was the husband of Sharon Twiss Chapman; the couple enjoyed 39 wonderful years of marriage.

Born in Honesdale, son of Ray Chapman, Clarks Summit, and the late Jean Gilpin Chapman, Roger was a lifelong resident of Clarks Summit. Roger graduated from Abington Heights High School and attended Penn State University; he worked for many years at Chapman Plumbing & Heating Supply, and recently for R.J. Walker in Scranton. He was a lifetime member of the Clarks Green Assembly of God Church where he served in many capacities of leadership and impacted many with his positive spirit. Roger will be missed by all who knew him. His smile, even through the course of a lengthy illness, would always be seen, as well as his positive attitude toward life and the hereafter.

His family would like to thank Dr. Oscar Piczon and more recently Dr. Ferdinand Manahan for their care of Roger during his kidney disease. The nurses at DaVita Dialysis at Moses Taylor Hospital have become like family over the last six years. More recently, the care Roger received at Geisinger Community Medical Center by the intensive care team was a blessing to our family at this extremely difficult time. The nurses from Fresenius Dialysis in the ICU were greatly appreciated as well.

Also surviving are a daughter, Sherri Taylor and husband, Rob, Scott Twp.; a son, Stephen Chapman and wife, Nicole, Clarks Summit; three grandchildren, Julia, Madelyn and Cameron Taylor; two brothers, Terry Chapman and wife, Jan, Lanoka Harbor, N.J.; and Ron Chapman and wife, Brigitte, Lancaster; nieces and nephews.

The funeral service and celebration of Roger's life will be from the Clarks Green Assembly of God Church, 204 S. Abington Road, Clarks Green, on Monday at 10 a.m., by the Rev. Glenn White Jr., senior pastor. All those attending are asked to go directly to the church. Friends may call Sunday, 5 to 8 p.m., at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clarks Green Assembly of God Church, 204 S. Abington Road, Clarks Green, PA 1841
