Rocco V. Riccio was called to be with our Lord in heaven on Oct. 19.
A resident of Lehigh Commons, Macungie, Pa., he was the husband of Claire M. (Frei) Riccio, with whom he resided. He was a former resident of Newton Township, Pa., where he lived for more than 32 years before relocating to the Lehigh Valley in 2007.
Born in 1915 in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late William and Magdalena (D'Uva) Riccio, he was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He was a retired letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for more than 30 years.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 62 years, Claire; two daughters, Dolores M., wife of Ronald Spalazzi of Staten Island, N.Y.; and Carol A., wife of Richard DiMuccio, of Harrisburg, Pa.; two sons, William J., husband of Vicki (Stigile), of Camden- Wyoming, Delaware; and Richard G., husband of Tracy (Madden), of East Texas, Pa. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Ronald and Jeffrey Spalazzi; Eric and Alissa Maltese; and Olivia Riccio; and five great-grandchildren.
He was an active member of Our Lady of the Snows/Church of St. Benedict Parish, Clarks Summit, Pa., for many years, where he served as an acolyte and 3rd-Degree Knight of the Abington Council 6611 Knights of Columbus, and a volunteer for many years at the St. Benedict summer bazaar. As a youth, Rocco served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, working in state park development in Washington state and Montana.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Church of St. Benedict, Newton-Ransom Blvd., Clarks Summit. Interment with military honors will be in Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Twp.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
