Robert Wahlers, 76, Tunkhannock, died Monday at the Gardens at Wyoming Valley.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of the late Charles and Beatrice Wachter Wahlers, he was raised in Massapequa on Long Island and graduated from Plainedge High School. Bobbie was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth but did not let that deter him. He worked many jobs throughout his life, most notably for United Rehabilitation Services and Keystone Community Resources. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Clarks Summit.
Bobbie enjoyed music, watching TV, going to McDonalds but most of all working. He loved to work, and his family is most grateful for the opportunities provided to him both by URS and Keystone Community Resources.
Also surviving are two sisters, Eleanor Messner and husband, William, Easton, Md.; Elizabeth Leo, Great Barrington, Mass.; nephew, Tim Messner; and nieces, Kristin Agrawal, Kerin Schwartz and Rhiannon Leo Jameson.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 8, at 7 p.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, to be celebrated by the Rev. Kenneth Trexler.
Interment will take place Thursday, August 9, at 11 a.m. in Cypress Hills Cemetery, Brooklyn, N.Y.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 8, from 4 until the time of the service at the funeral home.
