Robert C. Stoeckel, Jr.

Robert C. Stoeckel, Jr., 87, of Clarks Summit, died Wednesday morning at Abington Manor Nursing Home in So. Abington Twp. His wife is the former Esther Holtzman, the couple had been married for 65 years.

Born on E. Elm St. in Scranton, he was the son of the late Robert C., Sr. and Madalene Batzel Stoeckel. He was a 1945 graduate of Clarks Summit Abington High School. Prior to his retirement in 1989, he was a foreman with P. G. & W. for 40 years. He was a member of the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church and the Waverly Masonic Lodge, F&AM, No. 301. Bob was a proud WWII Air Force veteran and a Golden Years Member of the Silver Wings Fraternity, who first flew solo in a powered aircraft in 1947.

Also surviving is a daughter, Leta Stoeckel, Moscow; a brother Gene Stoeckel, and his wife Yvonne, Justus; a sister in law , Lois Stoeckel, East Greenwich, RI; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother E. Carl Stoeckel.

A funeral will be held on Saturday at 11 am from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by Pastor Brent Stouffer. Interment will follow in Clarks Green Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home, with Masonic services conducted by Waverly Masonic Lodge, F&AM No. 301.
