Robert Kenneth Lunger, age 89, of Dalton, died early Monday morning, July 3, 2017, at the Gardens at Tunkhannock. His wife is the former Jane Frances Spencer. The couple married May 7, 1949.Bob was born in Orangeville, Pa., on Sept. 5, 1927. He was the son of the former Furman and Mary Edwards Lunger.
Prior to his retirement, he was a terrazzo floor installer working for Roman Mosaic, West Chester, Pa. and the Anthracite Marble and Tile in West Pittston. He was a member of Countryside Community Church.Bob enjoyed sitting on his porch with his wife, Jane, and waving to all the passing cars. He always looked forward to hosting annual Fourth of July and Labor Day chicken barbecues in his backyard. Bob loved to garden, growing lettuce, onions and corn.
He had a great sense of humor and always a kind word for everyone. Over the years, he traveled across the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Also surviving are daughters, Debra Jaye and husband, Jon, of Oakland, N.J.; Nancy Fetcho and husband, Mike, South Abington Twp.; son, Robert Lunger and wife, Rachael, Lake Winola; grandchildren, Jonathan Jaye and Spencer Lunger; and great-granddaughter, Addison Lunger. He is also survived by brothers, Leo and Furman; and many nieces and nephews.He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Dot Heinrich, Peggy Roberts, Annabelle Sands; and brothers, Vernon, James and Donald.
The family would like to thank Dr. Darlene Dunay and Dr. Gregory Cali and the staff for the excellent care they provided over the years, as well as all the private caregivers who helped to make Bob comfortable.
The viewing will be held Wednesday, July 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, Pa.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 6, in the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
