Robert Daniel Horan, Clarks Green, died Thursday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore. He was the widower of Loretta Mary Solack Horan.
Born in Wilkes Barre he was the son of the late Raymond J. and Mary Gorham Horan. Prior to his retirement he was a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 1953 – 1980. After retiring from the FBI he was the owner of Horan Associates and Investigative Consultants. He was a member of The Church of St. Gregory and a veteran of the United States Navy. Bob recently received a proclamation as an "Ambassador for Peace" for his military service during the Korean War. He was also recognized this year for his 38 years of service to the Woodloch Pines Lakehouse Association. His family and friends enjoyed many fond years with him at Woodloch Pines where precious memories of him will always remain.
He is survived by sons Robert Michael and his wife, Joan, Binghamton, NY, Richard Raymond and his wife, Linda, S. Abington Twp., and Patrick Edward and his wife, Jeryl, Chicago; a daughter Dianne Marie Buckwash and her husband, David, Harrisburg; a sister Mary Smith, Catonsville, MD; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, David and Timothy John Horan, a daughter Loretta Horan, a step-grandson Paul, and a brother Raymond Horan.
A Mass of Christian burial will be privately held at The Church of St. Gregory with services by Rev. John Lapora, pastor. Interment with full military honors will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington D.C.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore. He spent his last days there and was treated with the utmost in compassion, dignity, and respect.
