Listen to Obituary

Robert W. Hopkins, 80, of Dalton, passed unexpectedly at home on Sunday.

Born July 8, 1940 in Wyoming County, he was the son of the late Gordon and Edith Hopkins.  He was a 1958 graduate of Abington Heights.  After high school, he served in the United States Army for four years.  Prior to his retirement, he was the Branch Manager for Fruehauf Trailers for over 40 years.

Bob was a member of Clemo Hunting Club, Factoryville Sportsmen's Club, Waverly Masonic Lodge #301, and was a Shriner.  He loved to hunt and never missed the first day of buck season.  He was an avid golfer and trap shooter.  He loved spending Wednesday nights with his friends shooting and socializing.  His friends knew him as "Hoppy".  Bob was a 14-year throat cancer survivor.  His strong will and good sense of humor will not be forgotten.

Bob met his wife Bonnie when they were in high school.  They would have been together 57 years this month.  We find comfort in knowing he has been reunited with the person he grew old with.

He will be missed dearly by his children and grandkids.  We are unbelievably honored to call him our Dad and Grandpa.

Surviving are his two sons, Robert Hopkins  of Lake Winola, Mark Hopkins of Clarks Summit, and a daughter Brooke Keisling and husband Matthew of Clarks Summit; Grandkids Linley and Paige Keisling, and Hunter, Garrett, and Aaron Hopkins.

He was preceded in death by three brothers:  Bill, Everett, and Emerson Hopkins; and a sister Shirley Logan.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, as Bob loved his Beagle, Emma, and would donate often.

Friends may call on Saturday, September 26 th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 South State Street, Clarks Summit.
