Robert G. Faraday, 81, Clarks Summit, died Tuesday afternoon at Regional Hospital of Scranton. His wife was the former Arlene Richter, who died in 2004.
Born in Newton Twp., son of the late Arthur and Emma Schuman Faraday, he attended Newton-Ransom High School and before retirement, he was employed by Potlatch Paper Co. as a mechanic.
He was an avid bowler and in his early years he was a member of the Ransom Baseball Club. He was a lifelong Red Sox fan and a charter member of the Newton-Ransom Fire Company. Robert enjoyed meeting with friends for coffee each morning.
Surviving are four sons, Robert G. Jr. and wife, Debra, Tompkinsville; Gary L. and wife, Margie, Marion, North Carolina; Arthur and wife, Susan, Newton Twp.; and Dean S. and wife Linda, South Abington Twp.; a daughter, Terry Purcell and her husband, Robin, Newton Twp.; a sister-in-law, Francis Faraday, Ransom; a sister, Sandra Wilson and husband, Bobbie, Illinois; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Arthur.
A private graveside service will be held Saturday at noon at the Milwaukee Cemetery, Ransom Twp.
